Recently, filmmaker Darren Doane posted a clip talking about how he doesn’t take personality tests because obedience overrides everything.

Doesn’t matter if you’re not naturally good at something. If it has to get done, if has to get done. 

And I generally agree with him in business and life (though I would say the vast majority of Americans would cringe at this).

But I wanted to push this into the marketing arena as well.

In marketing and copywriting, obedience is everything. But obedience to what?

The gurus?

The latest trends & tactics?

Nope. Obedience to your market is everything (the market being the *people* in the market).

Sure, listen to gurus, follow the trends, but let your market determine what you implement.
